Saadoun Al-Jabri

Saadoun Al-Jabri is an Iraqi writer, poet, and translator born in Baghdad in 1968. He is considered one of the foremost researchers and translators specializing in Spanish language and literature. He moved to Spain in 1995 to pursue graduate studies in literature and philosophy, and settled there. His Life and Education Saadoun studied in Spain, where he obtained advanced degrees in literature and philosophy, and currently works as a professor of Arabic language and literature at the Central University of Madrid. His Literary and Translation Career Saadoun, in collaboration with writer Mohsen Al-Ramli, founded "Alwah" Publishing House in Arabic in 1997, and published the quarterly magazine "Alwah," focusing on thought and culture. He also founded the "Alfalfa" series for Arabic literary and intellectual publications in Spanish in 2006. Saadoun directed his first short film "Maqbara" in 2006. Many of his literary works have been translated into various languages, including Spanish, English, French, and German. He has translated over twenty books in poetry, novels, and criticism from Spanish to Arabic. His Translations and Publications Saadoun has translated many Arabic literary works into Spanish, and oversaw the translation of four poetry and short story anthologies into Spanish.
